The tradition of decorating a Christmas tree in town started over 50 years ago when a good neighbor would decorate the tree at the corner of Pitt and Market streets. The children of the town would all be given presents. They were also given chocolate Hershey bars and over different years, popcorn balls or oranges.
We re-kindle that tradition with Santa and decorations donated from local residents.
